Law is full of routine, but the cost of error is high

Legal work is mountains of text: contracts, documents, correspondence, finding the right clause. AI is great at speeding up routine: it parses contracts, prepares drafts, finds suspicious spots. But law is a field where an error is costly, so the boundary matters especially here: AI helps but does not replace a qualified lawyer.

What AI does in legal work

  • Contract review: extract the essence, obligations, deadlines, liability.
  • Drafts: prepare a document base for a lawyer to refine.
  • Risk spotting: highlight unfavorable or dangerous clauses.
  • Explanation: translate legal language into plain words.
  • Comparison: find differences between document versions.

What it looks like

I was sent a 20-page contract. What is important there, what to pay attention to?
AI helps you orient quickly: it extracts the key points — parties, subject, deadlines, amounts, liability, penalties, termination conditions. It highlights clauses worth studying more closely: one-sided rights of the other party, harsh penalties, vague wording. But important: this is navigation through the document, not a legal opinion. Before signing — show the contract to a lawyer. AI helps you understand where to look, but leave the legal assessment and decision to a specialist.

A critical boundary: AI is not legal advice

This is the main thing in the course: AI (and this course) does not give legal advice. It does not know all the nuances of your jurisdiction, case law, your specific situation, and bears no responsibility. AIs answers on law are hints for navigation and drafts, not an opinion. Legal decisions are made by a qualified lawyer.

Course rule: AI speeds up document routine but is not a lawyer. Trust legal decisions and risk assessment to a qualified specialist.
